Unfinished Tapestry
A life shrouded in darkness and discontent The only respite in your lips A visceral reaction, some say it's a mistake As control is forfeit To the yearnings of fate But the touch of the wind tears my heart open When our fingers no longer entwine The smell of the beach turns foul And the songs of the ocean wail time after time Vexation has been my guide While solitude lays by my side I wonder which one will subside I'm sullied but clean And I stand in between The truth and a past that may not be You took the threads of unfinished tapestries And entwined them through the fibres of your soul Putrepidation aside as I drowned in a sea of exaltation You gave me you heart And it won't be for granted The pain and the anguish I've caused Will not be in vain I gaze at the moon as your sun shines upon it A semblance of hope, an oasis in sand Every tear that you shed, my self mutilation A battlefield inside of mind To let you go or chase you away A decision I didn't want to find But I'll never stop fighting for this dream To hold onto our lives as one But to shackle you in a cage is to drain The blood from my veins You took the threads of unfinished tapestries And entwined them through the fibres of your soul Putrepidation aside as I drowned in a sea of exaltation
