The Argonauts Like gods from the sea Now climb ashore Heroes all, armed with steel! Spears agleam And helmets sparkle The standard of Hellas Billows in enemy lands! With sword and shield Hellenic steel To conquer the world And bring kings to heel Under the sun and over the sea Argo glides on ocean leagues By the moon and by Zeus Adventure calls the Argonauts! With sword and shield... Ten thousand leagues O’er waves of Neptune The setting sun is caught In our flashing swords! Would that I had Only one yard Of Hellenic steel Than all the golden crowns Of the wild Easterlings... Poseidon's waves we all must brave To distant shores as we set sail: With song attuned to pulling oars And wine that steels Hellenic hearts! All for one, Argo for all – What horror creeps on yonder shore? The heroes' ranks are closed at once As steel is drown to face what comes... With sword and shield Hellenic steel To conquer the world And bring kings to heel The steel that's forge in fire-hearts In battle rings a keen death-toll Now, from Iolcos we bring you this: Hellenic steel to claim the fleece! With sword and shield Hellenic steel To conquer the world And bring kings to heel

With Jason in the lead And Heracles as a shield Old man Argus is to steer The spearhead of the seas! Deucalion of Crete Mighty Perseus and Areius the feared Never before a crew at sea Could boast of hands like these: Orpheus, master of the lyre And noble Nestor too Hail! The heroes now set sail! Gathered 'round the mast And lo! How Argo rends the waves! Hail! The heroes leave Colchis! Gathered 'round the mast By Zeus! The four winds be with us! Bellerophon, the warrior-heart Autolycus, the mariner And wise Asclepius The man who conquered death Along with Castor, son of Zeus And Atalanta, battle-born A beauty deadly as an arrow From bowstring unleashed! Hail! The heroes now set sail! Gathered 'round the mast Hail! The heroes now set sail! Gathered 'round the mast

Orpheus, lyre-master grand Companion of the Argonauts What gifts thou hast brought To brighten our darkened lands! Blessed music springing forth From Argo's decks as song Taming beasts and wilder things: The barbarians who lurked (In the caverns) around the Black Sea... Music is the key that holds The mystic Logos of the World: The Ether that binds Chaotic Force And gives pulse to Hyperion's heart Orpheus, artist of the seven strings Can turn your soul into a star of gold! They sing of home And the legacy of the lyre! The heroes left these wild shores But there remains still intact An echo of the lyre that sung To dolphins, lions and to men In the secret Orphic tongue: Music is the key that holds The mystic Logos of the World: The melody that seeds great halls And gives wild things their human form! Orpheus, artist of the seven strings Can turn your soul into a star of gold! (With) Guitar in hand and piping flute The beating of the tambourine: This night the Argonauts doth feast Till morning comes to foreign skies Let the seventh chord Now sound the Orphic spell Which resonates through time and space (And lives on to this day!) Because now, all pain and Hardships are enough As I have crossed the endless Land and the cities Teaching people of the Omens In Egypt and in Libya alike) (Orpheus talking)

Farewell we call to the Aegean Sea And with sails full of wind Argo white ploughs the waves of The deep, Ionian blue-green! We saw the ancient shores that Guard the dread automatons The magic lands of Crete – Where royal monoliths stand high With double-headed axes cleave the sky... Blood and salt, sweat and awe To lands no man hath seen! Nothing stops the Argonauts! - ooooooooh! Blood and salt, sweat and awe To lands no man hath seen! Nothing stops the Argonauts! - ooooooooh! To lands no man hath seen To the shores of lake Tritonis To lands no man hath seen Beyond Istria and Propontis! Bebrycian challenge dared insult the Argonauts Polydeukes' iron fists put down the mountain-king! Crossing hostile lands! Man the oars - raise the sail! Blood and salt, sweat and awe Crossing hostile lands! Nothing stops the Argonauts! Man the oars - raise the sail! Blood and salt, sweat and awe Crossing hostile lands! Nothing stops the Argonauts! Man the oars - raise the sail! And past the clashing rocks Where black the waters churn And foundered is the shore Lord Apollo rides above En route to Hyperborea... Harpies shriek a curse As Phineus cries for help A swarm of arrows raised From Argo’s shielded prow... Blood and salt, sweat and awe Crossing hostile lands! Nothing stops the Argonauts! Man the oars - raise the sail! Blood and salt, sweat and awe Crossing hostile lands! Nothing stops the Argonauts! Man the oars - raise the sail!

King Pelias has to pay – The usurper, the blasphemer Is soon to fall under His mighty blade of bronze… Jason, twenty years strong, Steeled by Centaur discipline And the wisdom of the Beasts, Has come to claim in front of all What was by birth to be his own: The ivory Iolian throne! Pelias aghast feels the throes Of his powers as they wane Struck by the young prince’s Keen, commanding voice… “Lift the curse from Colhis” Pelias challenges the boy. “Put to the rest Phrixus’ shade Together with the Golden Fleece In a many-oared trireme And burn them in the open sea – So that the land may prosper again… Then the throne shall be yours!” CALL OF BLOOD! IN THE HEROES’ VEINS HE EMBRACED THE TRIAL IN A KINGLY WAY AND VOWED TO GO FORTH Thus he swore by Zeus an oath And Jason sheathed his blade; He embraced the trial in a kingly way And vowed to go forth and set his sail Where no man before had ever dared, Unknowingly falling in the old king’s snare… In a many-oared trireme ...

Beyond the pillars of Heracles Past the ocean's endless leagues The Argonauts first named the stars To built great halls of granite strong And gilt them with meander-riddles! They brought the light inside the dark A flame was lit in far-off lands Where woods hang wild and crawl with brutes To guide them home on waves of the sea To leave a mark for those who read The ancient tongue of brothers lost And seek to be the new Argonauts! Star-maps they carved on mountain sides! O'er the tomb where Atlantis dreams Lost forever in green waters deep Past the place struck by wrath of Gods Greeks sail again like once so long before! The gifts of Argo sowed a field Through mountains, sea and land That yielded forth a crop of Soul And left its mark through eons long! Where ore was mined centuries ago From Gaia's breast by Mycenean lords And Minoans who rode on dolphin-back When no sea was stranger to our kin! On our fortieth day at sea A string of islands we did see And farther yet we glimpsed The Great continent's shores!

Under scorching sun and bitter brine That parched the lips of Argo's crew Jason sailed to the isle of the Earth-born Six-armed men, giants' spawn - Another port to find Another battle to be won Is it friend or foe Who waits on foreign shore? With savage growls, they're hurling rocks They seek to crush the Argonauts Loudly sings the bow(string) of Heracles Spears of bronze fall like hail on the foe... Friend or foe All hail the Argonauts! Friend or foe The test of steel will tell apart! Friend or foe Young heroes sailed at dawn! Friend or foe As Voreas fills their sails! Friend from foe! Across the Hellespont another land Where Poseidon's kin, the Doliones Survivors of the great Cataclysm Whose forefathers dwelt in Atlantis once... The seer’s cries, the queen's suicide Yet in the end brothers reconcile By the gleam of the funeral pyre And flames burn 'pon Rhea's shrine... They greet Argo as she comes in But no one can foresee the tragedy In the clutch of mistaken circumstance The blood of Cyzicus the king is spilled In the clash of Doliones and Greeks... Friend or foe... another battle to be won Waits on foreign shore... Friend or foe All hail the Argonauts! Friend or foe The test of steel will tell apart! Friend or foe Young heroes sailed at dawn! Friend or foe As Voreas fills their sails! Friend from foe! The quest goes on, heeding the call Of great adventures to be fought And with sails full of wind Argo journeys to worlds unseen Friend or foe All hail the Argonauts! Friend or foe The test of steel will tell apart! Friend or foe Young heroes sailed at dawn! Friend or foe As Voreas fills their sails! Friend from foe!

But shortly after, as lust enflamed her heart, he appeared before her, like Sirius rising From the depths of the ocean to ascend the horizon, and is truly a marvel to behold in its rising brilliance, Yet brings woes untold unto the flocks of sheep; Thus Aesonides stood before her, radiant to look upon, He came unto her and awoke within passion’s fatal torments. Her heart fluttered from out her breast, her eyes grew dark, and on her cheeks spread a burning crimson hue; She had not the strength to lift her knees, To either go forth or back to tread, Her feet were rooted in the earth, As all the slave-girls of her train hastened to flee from them.
