Songs of Hiraeth
Silent snow falls on the road to Bergen The night is pale blue and white The coldness of our slumber It fades as we drive through traitorous mountains and falling snow Worry in your eyes but you still glow The cities there feel old And we ache for it to be home Wake in the cold morning The Baltic sang us to sleep Collapse on the mountain side by firelight Sleeping in the snow on the road to Bergen

Silent snow falls on the road from Bergen. The night is pale blue and white. The sunlight and the snow. The winding mountains roads... Moss underfoot, below the tree lines. The ancestral spirit of the sacred wild Where industry is just a hellish dream. A place where time slows and the old gods can be believed. The lights arise obscured by the Mountain View The newly frozen stream harassing the valley with its cold caress The wilderness untouched. The wild unseen. The newly wintered land. The holy death of autumn. Waking from a dream. My body is anywhere. My body is anywhere but my heart is in the great, wild north. Disappear into the pine. Lurking in shadows and silence. The flickering of the lights fade into the night. The mountain side covered in morning frost The ghost of fire in the ashes. Autumn is caressed by winter as the sound peers through wood and stone. Descension from this place is in my wretched bane. The venom of the machine hell of my birth place. How long until I can return to my home unknown. So far away.

The glow gasps for last breath as the city lights snuff out into sudden death and the electric hum replaced with cricket songs and all foot steps will carry me home to a simplicity where my heart can beat slow where there's no neon glow In the wild I find a reason and an answer. The temptation of convenience washed away by the thunder storms in June. Modernity frozen by February snow in the glory of the white mountain view Silence under an endless sky. Through the aeons our minds have wandered (Through wilderness and ourselves. Visioning the possibilities for man's advancements not through acquisition but inner exploration. Not through acquisition but spiritual exploration. I am a world within a world, perception and possibility. The endless wonder of the wild. Cower before its fury Step by step into the woods. Leave the world behind. Step by step into the woods Leave the world alive A clearing in the woods. Blessed rays shine through. Baldr's fury gives life to new land and all things will grow to replace what was stolen from sacred soil What is now a dream soon will be a reality. Welcome the fall. Welcome the end. Welcome collapse as new life will begin. In the wild I find a reason and an answer. The temptation of convenience washed away by the thunder storms in June. Modernity frozen by February snow in the glory of the white mountain view. Step by step into the woods. Leave the world behind. Step by step into the woods. Leave the world alive.

Clear cuts expose the forest floor The feral indigence of progress The rape of the natural world Stripped of her assets, our Mother Earth The whore of progress The horror of industrial agriculture, the unsustainable assault of enslavement redefined The earth in the shackles of man Sedentary slave drivers (To the nomads and the wilderness alikе) The bonds are about what you cut away Not about with what you chain us down The rotting corpsе of our nomadic, tribal nature Desecrated with harnessed fields And modified seeds Embrace the urge to bring civilization to its knees or try and make it succeed Only to eventually fade (Into one more species failed). Unsustainable, unable to succeed There is sorrow in the seeds The roots are poisoned and there has always been sorrow in the seeds

I see far back in the past, and the man I was Such shame and regret for all my weakness I can't believe I cushioned your feet for so long Certainly I am not blameless I have been foolish more often than not But I am vilified, I've been convicted Sentenced by your judgement without crime So here's my apology for all the horrible things I've thought But never have done For the vindication I'll never have For unwanted battles I never won You'll never read this and I don't give a shit I don't want to hear from any of you again Fuck your judgement and fuck your beliefs And fuck the values you tried to force on me So now let's clear the air and shed some dead weight You've burdened my shoulders for far too long I'm letting go before it's too late Stand on your podium and preach your gospel I've stopped listening to you I'm not your stepping stone, I'm not your crutch And I don't give a fuck what any of you do So here's my apology you'll never read I'm sorry you hurt your fucking feet walking on me I'm sorry the sound of my voice burdened your ears I should have known that your own musings Were all that you wanted to hear So after years and years and years It is time to let go So after years and years and years It is time to let go So after years and years and years It is time to let go So after years and years and years It is time to let go

Something that once meant so much to me lies dead beneath the earth You used to make me feel so alive, but now I look at you and laugh Not for memories past but How stupid we were to believe this could last Why did I fool myself to think that you were any different? We fell just the same Into obedience, complicity and silence I want to say everything I was, was a lie But it meant so much, which is why it fucking hurts to say goodbye I won't leave flowers for you and in time I'll remember you the way that you were When I was young and believed in something When I was young and believed in something When I was young and believed in nothing When I was young and Believed in nothing It's so hard to watch your ghost walking around here pretending to be alive Some of us pretend that you're still here, but in their hearts they know you died
