Fires on the Mountainside
Shining in the forest Gleaming through the storm Lighten the spirit, lifting Where once was night Shines ever bright And keeps the living warm I see fires on the mountainside And with the light, I see The poor and the starving gathering Multitudes of fires ablaze Transforming flesh so nourishing At the end of suffering day The makers, the craftsmen The blacksmith at the forge With flame and vigor Form metal and submerge Those with weighty thoughts Candles light their words Mеthods in madness And truth cuts our cords I see fires on the mountainsidе A clarion call as they grow I see fires on the mountainside Where the wild wind blows Flames of revolution With mind and might aglow A new world, surmounting And melt away the snow The old forever reaching For some past to reminisce Once great temples falling Into watery abyss I see fires on the mountainside A clarion call as they grow I see fires on the mountainside Where the wild wind blows Slowly broken by crashing waves Towers fallen, banners falling From their staves Mighty roots becoming weak Burning tinder, fires speak I am warmth, and I am death The preserver and destroyer Armies clash against the wall Children of the sea Sounding the clarion call Ikaros, above the walls To the sun-burning wing To set fire to it all When memory and fear linger Beyond the past, gone so long ago No ship can sail in any direction When water ceases to flow I see fires on the mountainside I see through all the lies The hoary hordes have fallen Old lands with empty thrones Rusted treasures, never knowing The strength of mountains' stone I see fires on the mountainside I see through all the lies Now and never was it ours As sails moved by wind Fire dancing on the water, lighting Places we have never been Now fly out farther than ever Past the winds and waves of the sea Fire-horizon shining And then I became We Now we see Fires on the mountainside A clarion call as it grows We see fires on the mountainside Where the wild wind blows true The fire, it burns! Rise up! Rise up! We see fires on the mountainside A clarion call as they grow (As they grow, as they grow) We see fires on the mountainside Where the wild wind blows true

The touch of frost Covers all the ground And thousands of wings Move without a sound Bodies lie frozen Ripped, bloody, and still Many lives wasted At the horned altar on the hill Their eyes were first to feast And their tongues soon follow Only poor men lie here No laurels beneath the gallows Over the palace walls Far over the mountainside The ravens fly to the fields Where body and spirit die Sacrifice for power and children cry Bright blood flows And ravens feed again One commands many to die Bright blood flows and ravens feeding Now, on raven’s wings, I fly I won’t serve anymore I craft the wings on which to fly Hear me now! There are songs to be sung More ancient than The memory of the old When legends built wonders, so high The suffering of slaves Seen by the Raven eye Dancing the palace walls Black-winged harbingers soaring the sky Over great towers and temples of stone To the sea, where I’ll fly Rippings Mouths Reveal sinews as they dine Binding wing to flesh An omen from the sky Over the palace walls Far over the mountainside The ravens fly to the fields Where body and spirit die Now, on raven’s wings, I fly I won’t serve anymore I craft the wings on which to fly Hear me now! Sacrifice for power and children cry Bright blood flows And ravens feed again One commands many to die Bright blood flows and ravens feeding now

At the lines, dividing one from another Barrier hindering brother from brother The same wind blows, and rains fall But what grows there grows rotten Or not at all At the Walls Knossos, strong and tall Mortared in fear and hate Securing power built on theft Denying the starving guest Always leads to War is never far along Created by the walls in our minds Death takes root at the wall Souls to hell as it thrives Death thrives Where walls divide Death thrives Where walls divide Ancient nations facing one another And fear spreads, never to make peace Outside the walls, there lies our enemy And inside, old lies spoken never cease Kings build; we’re cut from the world Death yields souls of endless war City of wealth, behind its walls Denying the starving guest Always leads to War is never too far along Created by the walls in our minds Death takes root at the wall Souls to hell as it thrives Death thrives Where walls divide Death thrives Where walls divide

Fire is life Burn slow or die alive Die on the vine Truth is lie In this light, death does thrive Death does blind Future is past Are we trapped Is there no turning back No turning back The flame-keepers set the feast So we dance, and we sing, and we breathe And we lie Oh, how we lie But, cold-night reminds Without this light Everything dies But their gold still shines In our eyes No reason for hope No new hearts of oak No turning back Wild-wind’s at our backs At our backs! There’s no turning back Wild-wind’s at our backs

Where once towers tore The veil of the sky Ruined houses, ruined temples Where ancient gods lie The strength of stone crumbles and fades Faith and fear exalting deepening shades Bodies twisting in hallowed flame Ceaseless sacrifices with new names Voices echo at the break of dawn Burning ghosts of towers long gone The axe, the eye, the star And the sign of the horns Icons of isolation, gilded walls And selfish thoughts Echoes of the feast spill to the floor And crowds of beggars starving at the door Plead for wealth and living in shame Hope in pyre’s forgiving flame The voices echo at the break of dawn Weeping ghosts of towers long gone “The old world is dying, and the new world Struggles to be born: now is the time of Monsters” The end never ends With old ways to defend Every stone builds higher And walls forever ascend The sun will cease to shine Hidden by the halls where the mighty dine Upon that old lie And we starve While their cups spill a golden wine The shine of golden halls Are not the domain of the strong Worship your wealth, bury it deep Before it's gone Where once steps rose to the sky And now the bones of the dead lie Towers crumble, but fear remains Never cleansed of the power that stains Voices echo, the triumph of gods Neverending ghosts of towers long gone

Like a tree rooted deep in the ground Winds break the boughs with a mighty sound Roots feed and ground us in the soil Weakened in stillness, wrapped in coil The end of all hope Remains in quiet of consent One above another The oldest of torments Ships sail on the wild winds Rumors of a world of death and debris Whispers of annihilation Follow the children of the sea Blood doesn’t feed the soil Poisoning the ground We are not rooted to a single land We move unbound Over and over, staking a claim Building more ruins, stoking old flames Thrones of skulls litter the ground But the wild wind blows a mighty sound Ships sail on the wild winds Rumors of a world of death and debris Whispers of annihilation Follow the children of the sea Wings born upon the winds Bound to the sky, fly to be free Far from the ground, above any storm Children of sky and sea Chained to the rocks, forever rising to fall As the great vulture bathes in our gall Break these chains and cast them down As the fire wilts every crown Ships sail on the wild winds Rumors of a world of death and debris Whispers of annihilation Follow the Children of the Sea Wings born, upon the winds Bound to the sky, Fly to be free Far from the ground above any storm Children of Sky and Sea

The sky is a storm And the sea is fire The mountain burns In a funeral pyre The tempest strikes And the masses cry Ikaros sets the world aflame Remember, look to the sky!
