The Ballad of Tiga & Az’daerul
He was the eldest king And will reign forever On his throne of ice Known far and wide Once he was the lord of the old world Now he waits for her return So as the story goes While the old king was crowned What is now ice and snow Was once fertile ground Once he was the lord of the old world Now he waits for her return The sun brought life and hope They worshipped her as goddess And so at every dawn They nearly died of awe Once a year someone was chosen to be Sacrificed to her warm embrace Let me tell you this The king was deep in love Tiga was her name They seemed to share a soul As the sage chose her for the offering He wept and went insane And as the sun came up They bedded her on rock Resigned to her grim fate But blessed by divine grace The heat was much to bear The sun burst with a glare And she took her away The world began to sway A curse was brought upon The goddess of the sun The king was full of rage And turned against the sage The mountains became ice The sun was seen no more The king sits on his throne Until Tiga will return Some day she’ll return to free him at last From his cage of ice and snow Now when you look up and gaze at the sun Remember she watches over you
